Ghostly Wontons

These little critters make me laugh, and they are tasty! Great for adults and kids in the room.

Cream Cheese Wonton Ghost Dumplings

Makes about 20 dumplings

Ingredients:
1 package square wonton wrappers (white, thin type)
8 oz cream cheese, softened
2 tablespoons finely chopped scallions
1 tsp garlic powder
Black sesame seeds for eyes or candy eyes, remove those before eating though!
Sweet Chili sauce for serving

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, mix cream cheese, scallions, garlic, salt until smooth.

  2. Place 1 teaspoon of filling in the center of each wonton wrapper.

  3. To shape like ghosts: gather the corners of the wrapper loosely over the filling, letting the top flare out like a ghostly sheet. Pinch just enough so the filling stays in.

  4. Dab water on the wrapper where you want eyes, press on sesame seeds. Heat oil in a skillet or pot to 350°F. Fry dumplings in batches for 2–3 minutes until golden at the bottom and slightly crisp, but keep the tops light for a “floating” ghost look.

  5. Remove to a paper towel–lined tray.

  6. Serve with chili sauce drizzled on top and around the plate
